The Meaning of Thank You

Something that I often hear complaints about from people is the notion of thank yous. People will often tell me that they feel insulted or upset that someone didn't say thank you for a gift they received or for a nice deed that someone did for them. However, thank you shouldn't be our expected response and instead, it should just be an added bonus if someone does say the phrase.

As an example, I held the door open for someone the other day while it was raining, taking great pleasure in being pelted by rain drops as I held it. As the person walked by, he didn't say thanks, didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there.

Korean

At first I was kind of annoyed that he hadn't made any recognition of the fact that I was doing something for him. However, I thought more about it and it's really a greater flaw in me than in him. He didn't ask me to hold the door open, he hadn't expected me to do the act. Maybe he didn't care that I did it or simply hadn't even noticed that I had.

Thanks is a nice way to show appreciation for what someone has done. But the deed should be done out of goodness, out of a desire to help the person. Thus, it shouldn't make a difference if they acknowledge it or not. If you need a pat on the back to make your actions seem worthwhile, you need to rethink why you're doing them. Give value back to the phrase thank you and don't make it an expected response for everything you do.

Does Green Tea Lower Blood Pressure?

Does green tea lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels or blood sugar levels? Are there other health benefits associated with the beverage? Here's a look at what we know.

From observing Japanese smokers, we know that those who drank a liter or more of green tea per day had a lower than expected incidence of heart disease, stomach cancer and throat cancer. Overall, there is a lower than expected incidence of heart disease among Japanese people. However, other dietary factors could contribute to that.

Korean

Foods

Most health experts now agree that chronic inflammation plays a role in heart disease, cancer and many other diseases that were simply thought to accompany the aging process. It turns out that the Western diet is high in inflammatory foods, including omega6 fats, white flour and corn. The Asian diet is rich in anti-inflammatory foods, including fish and vegetables. Just as a side note, the world's oldest living man, at the of this writing, is from Japan and he says that his favorite foods are vegetables.

What can we do to prevent chronic inflammation, without giving up our favorite foods? Experts suggest that you eat those favorite foods, whatever they may be, in moderation, but try adding more anti-inflammatory foods to our diets. But, regardless of how healthy your diet is, you cannot possibly get all of the benefits from the known anti-inflammatory plant components, without supplementation.

Green Tea

Green tea contains phytochemicals known as catechins. These catechins have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activity. Oxidative stress is one of the other factors involved in heart disease, cancer and DNA degeneration. DNA degeneration is the ultimate cause of cell aging. If the degeneration is allowed to continue, the cell will die.

Resveratrol

One of the phytochemicals, which is just a fancy way of saying compounds found in plants, that we know about is called resveratrol. It is found in a different beverage and is believed to be the element that explains why the French can eat a diet that is high in fat, without having a high incidence of heart disease. The beverage that contains resveratrol is red wine. Resveratrol helps to prevent DNA degeneration, suppresses cell signaling that would cause the death of healthy cells and is believed to help prevent cancer, as does green tea extract.

In the US, the FDA has approved health claims made by supplements concerning the prevention of breast and prostate cancer; although they determined that there was not enough evidence to support other claims. I say, why not cover all of your bases. We know that none of these plant compounds are bad for us. So, why not get all of the help that we can.

But, the initial questions were; does green tea lower blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar levels?

o Blood pressure, no, but losing weight can help lower blood pressure and catechins support weight loss
o Cholesterol, yes
o Blood sugar levels, no, but catechins do promote the cells' sensitivity to insulin, which is decreased in people with high blood sugar levels

If you're going to take a supplement, get the most that you can for your money. The body needs a number of nutrients every day and most of us don't get enough of them.

Signs To Know If a Guy Likes You And Not Just Wants to Sleep With You

So how will you know if a guy likes you and he's not only after sex? Are there tell tale signs? Or does one have to sleep with a guy just to figure out if he's a keeper or a player? Men are definitely one of the most complicated beings that God has ever created. You can't tell whether they like you or not. You have to figure things out and put the pieces altogether just like a puzzle.

Guys don't have the same thinking as women have. Fifty percent content of the man's brain is all about sex. However, they do commit to a long lasting relationship with a gal. They believe in "the one". If you want to know if a guy likes you or just wants to sleep with you then this is the perfect article. Here are some signs that could help you decipher a guy's moves.

Korean

1. He wants sex with you when he takes you out to the same restaurant more than twice in a month.

This clearly means that he doesn't want to be seen by people when both of you are together. Don't believe that it's his favorite place. Don't believe in the romanticism he shares whenever you wind up in the same restaurant more than twice in a month. Remember this, if a guy is really into you, he would make an effort to bring you to some fancy restaurant. He wants to impress you so he takes you out in different places. If he just wants to sleep with you, he would go with the routine of taking you out to the usual restaurant then bring you to his place.

2. He's into you when you meet his friends and family.

His sister's wedding is coming up. He has no date and then he invites you to be his date. You meet his dad, mom, siblings and even his grandparents. You see, he is not afraid to show you to his family. He is not afraid that you will know the real him. And what is more is that, when he and his friends have a basketball game, he invites you to watch it.

3. He wants sex when he only calls you up at night.

You need to dispose him immediately when he only calls you at the end of the day. Sometimes, he calls you up late at night. Get rid of him right away. He is making you his booty call. What's worse, he invites his self to your pad late at night. He makes excuses like he can't stand not seeing you or he brought you some pizza and even makes an excuse like he wants to talk to you.

4. He likes you when you notice that he gets nervous when you are around.

He fidgets. His whole nervous system has shaken him. You will notice that there are subtle gestures. There are some gestures like holding his belt or suspenders, clearing up his throat or leans his body towards you.

Getting a Police Application Form

Anyone who wants to become a police officer will first need to get a police application form in order to do so, they will find that the questions are more in depth than those that are on a normal job application form and this is because there are specifications you have to meet to become a successful candidate and to go on to the police training.

There are many ways in which you can get the application form, although this may vary depending on what area or country you live in. You can usually phone up and ask for one, and some forces allow you to download the application from the internet, or you may find advertisements for police officers or people wanting to become one in papers and on job sites, as well as recruitment offices.

Korean

You will find that the application form will ask you to fill in the usual information such as your place date and year of birth as well as asking you things such as whether you have any criminal convictions.

In some areas they may also ask you to give your fingerprints also and if this is the case you will have to have them done by someone who is authorised to do so.

Anyone who has had criminal convictions in the past will not necessarily be refused, it will depend on the nature of the crime and of course how long ago it was. You should be honest as if it is found that you have not been honest when filling in the application it will be returned and your training will go no further as the application will be rejected.

You will need to prove your identity, for the protection of the force and of course the public. If you were not born in the country you wish to apply to then you will need to show that you are legally allowed to work in the country or your application will be returned asking for more proof.

Once you have filled your application in you will have to send it back and wait to see if you have been accepted, the time it takes will depend on how many applications they have to process as well as looking in to the details you have provided to check that it is all correct. If you have been accepted they will send you to begin training and of course you will have to have a medical to make sure you are fit enough to continue.

Getting a Police Application Form

Passing the police recruitment process starts with submitting a strong application form but this is where a large majority of candidates struggle. If you want to get ahead of the other candidates click here for further advice: police application form help

Zucchini Pancake Recipe

I know that almost everyone has had potato pancakes but did you ever try zucchini pancakes? When I was a child I was a very picky eater and there was very little things that I would eat; my favorite was potato pancakes. I just loved them so much I could eat them every day, so one day I came home from school and my mother had potato pancakes or so I thought. I sat down to dinner and began eating my favorite food but something seemed a little strange. I said to my mother, "these pancakes taste different" and she said "I used a different kind of potato this time" and so I was satisfied with her explanation and kept on eating my fill as usual. When dinner was over she asked me how I liked dinner and I said it was wonderful as usual, then she replied these were a new zucchini pancake recipe that she just got from a neighbor and decided to try it on me. I was never so surprised in my life and since then I have been making the same zucchini pancake recipe and now I am passing it on to you.

1-3 pound zucchini
½ to ¾ cup flour
1 large egg
½ tsp. Salt
Pinch of pepper or as you like it
Some graded onion (optional)

Korean

Wash and peal the skin from the zucchini, slice it down the center, remove the seeds from the center and shred the zucchini into a large bowl and add one egg, salt, pepper, and flour. Mix all the ingredients together.

In a large skillet place about a ¼ inch of oil or even a little less (as you prefer) on your range until hot enough to fry in, place the pancake batter in the frying pan a couple of spoons at a time until you reach the desired size of each zucchini pancake, let fry until a golden brown on each side is reached and the pancake is crispy around the edges, remove the pancakes from the pan and place them on some paper towels to drain the oil from them and then enjoy.

This zucchini pancake recipe will probably be the best you ever had.

List of Foods Low In Carbs

Whilst putting together this list of foods low in carbs I thought to myself, "this might take some time..." because the beauty of low carb diets is the fact that they are so flexible and broad.

This is great news for us low carbers, as knowing what foods we can incorporate into our own customized plans allows us total freedom with our low carb food diets from day to day, week to week!

Korean

This freedom of course, will ensure that those of us who are committed to losing weight and staying healthy through a sensible low carb diet will find the variation enough to keep us "excited" about our next meal (and therefore able to actually stick to our low carb diet.

Finally having this overview type of knowledge allows us to get a better understanding of the low carb diet as a whole. However, I must tell you that the following list of low carb foods is NOT exhaustive, as there are literally thousands more options available. I have merely attempted to give an overview for easy understanding and reference.

Therefore, if you'd like thousands more ideas, and some powerful tips and motivation to make your low carb diet a success, then please keep reading to find out how to get access...

10 Reasons To Visit South Korea

South Korea is a very interesting country, which I recommend visiting for a series of reasons. Below ten reasons to visit Seoul and South Korea.

1. Korean food - even though Korean food has some elements in common with other Asian cuisines, such as the use of soy and soy products (like tofu, soy sauce etc.), some spices and rice, it is entirely unique. There are ingredients, combinations of flavours and recipes that you will not find anywhere else, so, if you are a food lover and interested in experiencing new flavours it is worth visiting Korea. There are Korean restaurants around the world, but you will never find the same flavours and variety of Korean cuisine as in Korea itself.

Korean

2. Shopping - shopping in Korea is an amazing experience. In a city like Seoul you are able to go shopping at any time of the day and night. Also, the variety of shopping centres, markets, shopping areas and department stores is incredible and caters for every taste, need or pocket. Often shopping in Korea is part of a family day out, as many shopping centres are created near attractions such as amusement parks, aquariums and places of interest for tourists.

3. The kindness of Korean people - like in other Asian countries, interpersonal relationships in Korea are very important and so Korean people are usually friendly, very kind and willing to help their friends. Sometimes they might seem blunt comparing to westerners, but they are rarely malicious. The important thing, anyway, is to know some of their customs and etiquette in order to avoid cultural misunderstandings.

4. The Korean city of Kyongju - Kyongju is an old city, basically an open-air museum with a high concentration of the best-preserved Korean Buddhist art (sculptures, pagodas, temples and palaces). If you are interested in Asian architecture Kyongju is worth a visit, as Korean traditional architecture is unique. Kyongju is one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

5. Korean traditional medicine - if you are interested in traditional Asian medicine, than it is worth experimenting traditional Korean acupuncture. Korean acupuncture is based on the same principles as Chinese acupuncture and some Korean practitioners study in China, but it is slightly different. Also, a typical Korean treatment is cupping, which was made famous in the west by Gwyneth Paltrow. Acupunctures practitioners in Korea are very good and they charge very cheap prices comparing to acupuncturists in the west.

6. Korean ginseng and green tea - Korean ginseng is considered to be the best in the world and, if you are a fan of this medicinal root, you can buy it cheaper in Korea. Also, Korean green tea is very good and great for health.

7. Korean sauna - Korean sauna is a great experience if you are a wellness fanatic. Korean saunas are rather different from any other spas around the world and quite cheap by western standards. In Korean sauna establishments you can find the traditional Korean kiln sauna, as well as steam rooms and dry saunas and you can have body scrubs and traditional Korean massage.

8. Korean Nore-bang - Nore bang is the Korean version of the Japanese Karaoke. If you love singing but you are too shy to do it in public, or you would like some background music and the songs texts, in Korea you can go to a nore-bang (literally sing room), with your friends or on your own. A nore bang is a place with individual private rooms for singing, so in privacy you can enjoy singing as you please.

9. Korean amusement parks - Korea boasts some great amusement parks, such as Everland near Seoul. Especially if you are travelling with kids, this will be a highlight in your trip to Korea, a country where you can find traditional Asian culture as well as the newest and most exciting entertainments.

10. Experiencing Korean culture as a whole - it is worth visiting South Korea, just for the opportunity to experience a culture that is so different from our western cultures. Korea, even if it is a small country, has its unique culture, where traditions and innovations, old and new coexist.

Learning Korean Language Online Tips - The Best Way to Learn Korean

If you are interested in learning Korean language online to a conversational level, here are some tips which will get you on the right track fast. Follow these tips and you discover the best way to learn Korean in less than two months!

Most learning Korean language online approaches fail, because they do not focus enough on all of these aspects of learning the language. In particular, the areas of sentence structure and reinforcement are neglected. This fact applies to Korean courses online, tutors, and Korean classes equally.

Korean

That is because most courses were not designed to incorporate these features, and the course developers don't want to invest the resources to re-engineer the courses. They don't care if you learn Korean - they just want your money!

Learning Korean Language online Tip 1: From the very start, make sure you focus on complete sentences, not individual words. There is a very good reason for this. If you focus on individual words, you will tend to try to directly translate the individual words from English to Korean. Of course, then you will end up with a garbled sentence which makes no sense in Korean, even though the word order is perfect in English.

The only way to overcome that is to grasp the nuances of Korean sentence structure right from the start. Then you will be essentially structuring the sentence in the correct Korean word order and you will master the language conversationally much faster.

The other important point about focusing on sentences instead of words is that you will be searching for vocabulary naturally. I don't know the neurological reasons for it, but if your brain seeks out information it will retain the information much better than if you try to cram information into memory.

So focusing on complete sentences helps to expand your vocabulary faster than the act of learning vocabulary the old-fashioned way! It also helps you master thinking of a sentence as a native Korean speaker would.

Learning Korean Language Online Tip 2: You must practice Korean daily if you want to get conversational in the shortest time. This is why learning Korean language online programs or CD-based courses are the best approach. Weekly classes or weekly tutor sessions will not provide enough structured learning and you will not retain the information you learn as well. But if you spend one hour a day in a structured lesson session, you'll be amazed at how quickly you are learning Korean language online compare to any other approach.

Just make sure that the course you choose exposes you appropriately to complete sentences right from the start!

Learning Korean: How to Choose the Best Korean Language Software

Learning a new language is tough, so it's essential that you start off the process right by choosing the best learning tools. Your primary tool, of course, will be your language learning software. This article is going to discuss four important software features that your program must have.

1. Phonetics

Korean

The Korean alphabet is much different than any other alphabet in the world. Because of this, if you want to speak Korean, you have no choice but to learn a whole new alphabet; you cannot rely on the sounds of your own native language. In addition, learning these sounds is the foundation of all you will learn in Korean. If you don't learn to pronounce the letters properly, you will not be able to speak words, phrases, or sentences properly either, and, remember, it is even more difficult to fix poor pronunciation than it is to learn it correctly in the first place. With this is mind, you can see how important it is to choose Korean language software that has a very high-quality phonetics feature.

2. Grammar

Many linguists argue that it's not really necessary to learn grammar when studying a foreign language. After all, children and illiterate adults can both speak their native languages without having knowledge of grammar. In some cases I agree with these linguists. With the Korean language, however, learning grammar is important. Why? First of all, the Korean language uses something called case markers, and just about every sentence has them. These are important to study for one simple reason--we don't have them in English. And because we don't have them in English, we have no idea how, why or where to use them. Without formally learning them, we will never learn to speak Korean correctly.

In addition, Korean sentence structure is "backwards" when compared to English; the verb is always at the end of the sentence. If you make a point of learning this different structure, it is easy to pick up, but if you just try to get a feel for it, you'll struggle to speak correctly. The good news is that Korean grammar is very simple and much easier to learn than English grammar.

3. Culture

When visiting a new country, sure, it's nice to learn a bit of the culture first. It allows you to be polite and well mannered. In Korea, however, it is much more than this. When speaking Korean, you need to use different words and levels of formalities when speaking to different people in different circumstances. And different people will, in different circumstances, speak differently to you. So much so, in fact, that if you don't understand Korean culture you may have a hard time understanding the language.

4. Interactive

This is something that you may have heard before. I am telling you again, however, because rapid advancements in technology have made today's best software programs so interactive that they provide a learning experience that, in my opinion, is better than taking a live Korean course. Not all Korean language software programs are up to date, however. This means that, before you buy a program, you should try the free trial and see just how well the developers have utilized today's great technology.

Summary

Learning Korean is a worthwhile but difficult Endeavour. To ensure your success, you need to make sure that you choose the best language learning software available. Before buying a program, make sure that it is interactive and that it covers, in detail, phonetics, culture and grammar.

How to Make Jja Jang Myun (Korean Noodles With Black Bean Sauce)

One of the immensely popular noodle dishes in Korea is called Jja Jang Myun. Although it is an Asian dish, many foreigners, vastly from America, are beginning to explore these kinds of dishes and are becoming popular in the states as well. This recipe calls for a lot of ingredients, but in small amounts. This means that not all the ingredients are necessary and there are a myriad of ways to make jja jang myun. Here is how to make this delicious Korean dish.

Here are the ingredients that you will need: Asian style noodles (they are usually thicker than the ones Americans are accustomed to), jja jang sauce (it can be found in any Korean market), pork, onions, zucchini, cooking oil, corn starch, black pepper, ginger, and sesame oil.

Korean

The first thing is to make the noodles. Simply cook the noodles in boiling water and drain the water out after it's done cooking. After that, rinse it off with cold water to get rid of any excess starch. Leave the noodles aside for now.

Next we have to make the sauce for the noodles. Get a pot and add cooking oil to it, just enough to cover the bottom of the pot. Then add the jja jang sauce and slowly cook it continuously. While doing this, get the pork, onions, and zucchini and cut them into little chunks. You can add the onions and zucchini directly into the pot, but the pork needs to be cooked in a separate pan. If we simply add the pork to the sauce, there is a chance that it will not get fully cooked. After it's cooked, you can then add it into the sauce.

After the sauce is done simmering, simply put your noodles in a bowl and pour the sauce over the noodles.

Although this is the simple way to make Jja Jang Myun, it is also very delicious.

Teach your friends how to make this delicious dish today.

How to Make Gimbap - Korean Sushi

Gimbap is the Korean version of the traditional Japanese dish, sushi. Gimbap is literally "seaweed rice" in Korean. You can have a variety of ingredients and it's simple to make. You can also get a lot of people together to make it. In Korea, it's traditional for mothers to have some quality talk while making gimbap. Here's how to make this dish.

For this version of gimbap, we will use the following ingredients: rolling seaweed (the other type of seaweed is brittle and is not suitable for gimbap, rice, crab meat (in the Korean dish, imitation crab meat is more widely used because real crab meat is too expensive), spinach, pickled radish, sausage(or spam), fishcake, carrots, and a bamboo mat.

Korean

Before we start cooking, we need to prepare the ingredients. The imitation crab meat we can leave alone because it's already prepackaged. As for the spinach, blanch the spinach and chop it into small pieces. As for the pickled radish, sausage, fishcake, and carrots, thinly slice them so that you can put a little bit of each into each roll.

Now it's time to actually make the gimbap. Take out a sheet of seaweed and spread rice over it. Leave about and inch and a half on the top of the seaweed so that you can roll it up easily. Put a little bit of each ingredient on a single line and roll it up using your bamboo mat. To keep the ingredients from spilling out, hold them in with your thumb as you are rolling the seaweed.

That's it for making gimbap. It's inexpensive to make and filling. Teach this easy recipe to your friends so that they can each make their own gimbap.

Political Slant Of North Korean News

When looking at the news articles coming out of North Korea it is clear that they are concerned with keeping the hopes of independent reunification alive. The tops news stories are entitled, "New Era of Reunification and Prosperity Will Come in 2008" and "More Mass Rallies Held." The first article explains that reunification is only possible is both sides are willing to join, this obvious statement does not include the fact that the many people in North Korea have wanted to be reunited to South Korea for a long time and it is the strict and corrupt government of the North that has been making this reunification impossible. One other story spoke out against the Japanese decision to shorten the chain of command for activating their anti missile network. The North Koreans have taken this as a threat and viewed it as Japan flexing their missile muscles.

Compared to news in the United States the articles seem very short and somewhat low on factual information. Furthermore the articles are repetitive when it comes to the issue of independent reunification. One other difference that the Korean news has from American News is that the Korean articles call on the people of the nation to continue struggling for peace, in America it seems there is no need, most of the time, to call on the people of our nation to struggle or for any other reason.

Korean

By reading the articles I learned that there is a lot of conflict in North Korea because so many of the articles are talking about desired peace, reunification, and prosperity. But reunification seems like a somewhat false topic because it seems to me that the Government of North Korea has no desire to reunite with South Korea unless they are granted un-realistic rights in the new united country.

There are political slants in the North Korean news particularly in the article involving Japans decision to streamline their anti missile command chain. Until recently the Japanese defense minister had to get approval from the Japanese Prime Minister before they the Defense Minister could enact the anti missile defense, but now the Defense Minister can activate the anti missile defense by himself. This enables Japan to react faster to a missile attack against their nation. North Korea has taken Japans increased faster possible response as Japan getting ready for a preemptive strike. North Korea has taken a simple change in the line of command and twisted it into an excuse to accuse Japan of preparing for an attack.

How K-Pop and Korean Culture Leads to Awesome ESL Lessons

I have lived in Korea for a year and a half, arriving in March 2010 from the US. My reasons for moving to Korea are like many other foreigners: to teach English and travel doing so. ESL, or English as a Second Language, has become the rage in Korea these days and teaching in Korea is incredibly rewarding and fun.

However, there are also challenges as well. Language barriers and cultural differences will be your greatest obstacle. Fortunately, by turning the tables and using their own Korean pop culture, teaching in the country becomes a lot easier.

Korean

Take a look at these three steps to help you in your ESL lessons in Korea:

1) Relate to your students. This is actually a universal rule in teaching, but even more so in a foreign country. The way you relate to Korean students is to talk about things they know. Namely, K-pop. K-pop is so engrained within Korean society that nearly every student - regardless of age - knows all the popular songs. Ever had a whole class sing Girls Generation's "Gee" or 2PM's "Hands up"? It's quite a treat to see.

So the lesson here is don't talk about that new US musician that just came out. You'll just get blank stares from the students. Rather, talk about the latest K-pop superstar.

2) Learn the culture. Every country has their own ways of standards. Korea is no exception. Although new teachers will struggle to learn Korea's culture at first, it will aid you in classroom teaching down the road. Don't know what Pepero Day is? Ask one of your Korean co-workers. Do you know the significance of Chuseok Day? Take the time to look it up on Wikipedia. Ever heard of the date 6-25 before? Look up history about the Korean War and find out.

Your students will appreciate your attempts to learn their culture. Thus, they will be more motivated to learn.

3) Take a Korean class. Korean can be difficult at first. Their writing system, Hangul, will look like Egyptian hieroglyphics at first sight. Speaking Korean will also be a game of tongue-twister to many. Yet, even knowing basic words will make the students laugh. Rather than tease you, they will be in awe how a foreigner is learning a new language. They will appreciate the fact that you are learning their native language, much like they are learning yours.

Anyone that takes the time to learn someone else's language shows that you care. And you definitely do.

If you follow these three tips, your students will be motivated to learn in the classroom. Often times, the best way to teach is not having the best theories or mythologies, but rather, to simply relate to the student. To see what makes them tick, their likes, and their hobbies. Once you take a curiosity in learning about them, they'll naturally do the same for you.

A Drop Dead Power Punch From Korean Karate!

This Korean Karate trick is one of the simplest and most deadly moves you will ever find. As simple as it is, it requires exquisite timing, and a number of little bits and pieces of which I am about to tell you. Understanding these fine points, and working on the thing a bit, and you are going to have one of the most powerful punches in your martial arts arsenal.

I discovered this trick in the form which is sometimes called Heian Five, it happens right after you execute a crescent kick and low block. You are now standing in a horse stance, and you swing the right arm across the body to cover the left side of the body with a palm block. You then perform a left fist to the left, and that is what I have labeled the power punch.

Korean

You can perform this technique exactly as it is in the form, and it will work with plenty of power. But there are ways to to develop even more power, and to make it even more functional. And we want more functional, because we want to make this technique so smooth that we can use it in street situations.

Have your partner stand opposite you, handshake distance away. Have him step forward with his right leg and execute a fist to your face with his right hand. You step back with your left foot into a back stance as you perform a left palm block, this causes your partner's right hand to pass in front of you, and this sets up his body for the counter.

To counter, turn your body and feet into a horse stance as you perform a right punch to his ribcage. Now, this has got to be done quick and sharp, and you have to drop your weight and snap those hips, and you are going to find that this technique, if executed correctly, is going to smash his ribs to splinters. In addition, if you happen to use a little precision, and this will happen naturally over time, you can stick your fingers directly into his armpit.

The thing is that you must have perfect CBM, Coordinated Body Motion, in your strike. CBM is when all body parts move at the same time. Thus, you strike with a couple of hundred pounds of mass (assuming you weigh a couple of hundred pounds), and not just the weight of your arm.

In addition, you must make sure your stance is at the correct distance so that your arm is nearly straightened out, only has a couple of inches to extend, when you strike him. If you decide to use the flattened out hand, go slower, and add fingertip push ups to your daily exercises. If you decide to go deep and do a throw, you can set your legs so that your punched out arm can sweep him over your horse.

I always found this to be an intoxicating trick, quick and easy, and I love the feeling of moving in quick and light and then dropped the deep power into the last snap of the fist. The damage to that mugger is going to be wonderful, and it is very usable on the street, and can be adjusted or modified as one needs. The official monicker for this trick, in my system, which is a slight modification of Korean Karate, is The Power Punch, hope you like it.
